Tell Me Why - David Mark Pearce

Story Behind The Song

Tell me why is written about two very close friends of mine who recently went through a horrific period in their lives. They were expecting their first child but unfortunately the timing just wasn't right and the special event didn't happen. They mis-carried and were forced to deal with the darkest time they'd ever faced. The song, although deals with this very personal and heart braking story, it can also be applied to any bad situation the listener might be going through and there is a very uplifting and supportive message in the lyrics that although bad stuff has happened everything happens for a reason and even if we can't see it at the time then ultimately in the end things work out the way they were supposed to and more often than not for the best!

Lyrics

Tell Me Why

Tell me why, tell me why again
This had to happen to us
Tell me why tell me why again
This had to happen to us
Tell me why yehh

Falling stars burn into the night
Never ever reaching the ground
They just return to the night sky
To shine in the black surround

Hey together your time will come again you'll see
Oh now & forever your love will last for an eternity
Last for eternity

Chorus

These days seem far from happiness
Look to the horizon the storm won't last
It's only when the driest land burns from the sun
That the rain will fall, the floods will come

Hey together your time will come again you'll see
Oh, now & forever your love will last for an eternity
Last an eternity oh h h

Solo

Life is a journey, like for those on the trail of tears
Who knows where it leads or where it goes or how we get home
Your future is coming, if you let go of all your fears
The rain will fall & the floods they will come
To wet the land burnt by the sun
