Story Behind The Song
In1997, Keri Miller went to Dr. Kevorkian for assisted suicide. She had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was in pain. I have the very same disease and the same doctor. I have had MS longer and more severe, but have been able to find hope and deal with it. The song is for her.

Lyrics
Keri, wish I'd known you then,
Keri, not Kevorkian.
I could have cried with you until we scared away our blues.
At times I feel that I can't go on, my strength is waning, it's almost gone
in this I feel we have shared a bond,
God give me courage to carry on.
Chorus
Our Spirit Is like a Willow Tree
In the storms of life it will bend.
Our Spirit is free, not stuck in this chair.
it will surely stand again and dance, dance, dance in the wind.
Keri, wish i'd known you then.
Keri, not Kevorkian.
I understand your pain was real, but in your heart your fate was sealed.
I've lived with MS many years, needed help, I know the fears.
Life is precious though there's pain
hold on tight there is much to gain.
I can now laugh with my family
Feel the love they have given me.
There's still that young child inside of me
that wonders at the night sky and wants to dance with the butterflies.
Chorus
Keri, I'll say goodbye to you
Keri, I pray you're born anew
