Story Behind The Song
See above. The story is that i was writing about my home, New York, a few days before 9/11, just describing the city. Then the terrorism happened, and the song changed to reflect that. It can be applied to anything I think, lyrically speaking. I think there's enough generality there.
Song Description
The song describes the city as I remember it, New York City, people going to and fro, and then they stop and stare and are brought at big lesson, a Lesson of Love. What did that day teach us and remind us about? These lessons are precious that they , love, it doesn't come free of charge.

Lyrics
Lessons of Love
Skyscrapers and Starbucks are what make this city grow
People look sideways as they stare at the neon glow
Of your lights, and your signs
And everything that's left behind on these
Lessons of Love, teach them to me
Lessons of Love, I know they aren't free
Lessons of Love to block out the night
Everything's gonna be alright
This city baby, it's got it's own rules
And just like you honey, it's got plenty to lose
These streets have been bruised to black
Some are here and some ain't coming back on these
Lessons of Love teach them to me
Lessosn of Love I know they aren't free
Lessons Of Love to block out the night
Everything's gonna be alright
Lessons of Love teach them to me
Lessosn of Love I know they aren't free
Lessons Of Love to block out the night
Everything's gonna be alright
Lessons of Love teach them to me
Lessosn of Love I know they aren't free
Lessons Of Love to block out the night
Everything's gonna be alright
