Lyrics

I guess it's nothing new when I write how I feel
I sing it in a song and the song is real
I step up to the mic, I want you to hear what I have to say
Don't know what I'll do if you just turn away

I try, I feel
I learn, I deal
I trust, I'm real

Someday I'll understand all I've been through
but until then we'll have to make do
with the words of a child who's still naive
with the thoughts of a girl not yet seventeen

I experience, and I learn what's wrong and right
I learn from books, but I learn more from life

I walk, I be
I am, I need
I live, I breathe

Someday I'll understand all I've been through
but until then we'll have to make do
with the words of a child who's still naive
with the thoughts of a girl barely seventeen

I try, I feel, I learn, I deal
I trust, I'm real, I hurt, I heal
I hope, I strive, I speak, I write
I will, I might, and I decide

Someday I'll understand all I've been through
but until then we'll have to make do
with the words of a child who's still naive
with the thoughts of a girl only seventeen
Someday I'll understand when I get a little older
but with my heart on my sleeve and my world on my shoulders
I may be just a child who's still naive
But I'm a girl who's lived enough to be seventeen

So here's the thoughts of a girl only seventeen.
