Code of Love

Story Behind The Song

When I married my husband, Rick, he didn't write at all. One day I was working on a song that needed a guys perspective. I asked him for help and after some prodding he agreed. Well I created a monster. He is a great lyricist. Code of Love was the first song he wrote lyrically by himself. I was proud to be a part of it by setting it to music.

Song Description

This song is about being attracted and in love with someone who is forbidden, i.e., your friends husband and/or wife, boss, who knows, maybe a nun (ha ha). You respect this person greatly and wish you could tell them how you feel but you don't want to hurt the friendship so you make up this little code that only you know - not the person you feel this way about. When you tell them - See you tomorrow - in your mind you are telling them I love you! This song was originally written for a male singer and I liked it so much that I've altered the lyric for a female singer - it can easily be converted to be sung by a male or female.

Lyrics

CODE OF LOVE

Seeing her picture on your desk keeps my feelings hidden
The love I have for you seems to be forbidden
So mister when I see you come and go
I smile politely and speak to you in code

Chorus:
The weather?s nice means I want you
Have a good evening means I need you
See you tomorrow means I love you
For now this is my secret code
My code of love

My dream for us always has the same end
Laughing and loving like other women and men
I have no choice but to bear this heavy load
And my words of love stay hidden in this code

Chorus:
The weather?s nice means I want you
Have a good evening means I need you
See you tomorrow means I love you
For now this is my secret code
My code of love

Bridge:
Those tight blue jeans, they?re killing me I swear
And you smell so good, oh no I don?t dare
It would never work, It wasn?t meant to be
But lightning strikes at times and fools must believe

Chorus:
The weather?s nice means I want you
Have a good evening means I need you
See you tomorrow means I love you
For now this is my secret code
My code of love

Tag:
I want you, I need you, I Love you
Ooooh, oooooh, My code of love
