Tears

Story Behind The Song

I was in Santa Fe, NM at a mountain overlook with my girlfriend of 5 years. Our relationship had run its course. She was so sweet and I knew I was about to hurt her by telling her it's over. As I'm telling her, I looked at the sky, the beautiful city lights, etc on a beautiful, clear summer night, trying to find some comfort and give her some comfort as our love breathed its last breath. This song was about that moment in time.

Lyrics

Strange and beautiful are the stars tonight - It feels alright - Interrupting destiny - Transmission faded - You soon will see - Though you may not know where my feelings go - I want you to know you don't have to cry no more - Tears fall from your eyes tonight - Can you heard them calling you? - There is no end in sight - Reaching out my hand for you - Please try and understand - Satellites pass and return - Tonight the years will burn - Though you may not know where my feelings go - I want you to know you don't have to cry no more - Tears fall from your eyes tonight - Can you hear them calling you - There is no end in sight - Tears fall from your eyes tonight - And I want you to know you don't have to cry this time - I've been up - I've been down - My world's been shattered - I've come unwound - Watching you still watching me - This time it's plain to see - I'm still here - Not fade away - The sky is a shade of gray - Let me hold you close - You don't have to cry no more - Tears fall from your eyes tonight - Can you hear them calling you? - There is no end in sight - Tears fall from your eyes tonight - And I want you to know you don't have to cry this time
