The Time Has Come

Story Behind The Song

I had written this song feeling that if we really want to change the world-we first must change the way we think-it all starts with a thought. I had written the verses and chorus to this song a number of years ago-and when it came back to me for this recording-well-that's when the vocal interlude and the subsequent jam parts blossomed. "Our Father's fought so we'd be free, what's going to be our legacy." I wanted this in the song-as I had been having a chat with a friend and the question came up-"What is going to be our legacy? What kind of world will we be leaving behind for future generations?" I know this is idealogiocal-but based upon articles I had read on studies/position papers by the UN and Condi Rice-people free of poverty and ignorance are not so susceptible to rule by violent/irrational leaders. "The Time Has Come". Imagine! Peace, Ken

Lyrics

THE TIME HAS COME

The time has come, for all of us to raise our consciousness
The time has come, for all of us to raise our consciousness

To stop the cycle of war and hate
To seek out truth, to love and create

To have the courage to look deep inside
To find our way our guiding light
CHORUS
The time has come
The time has come
The time has come

Instrumental break

The time has come, to love and protect our mother earth
The time has come, to love and protect our mother earth

It's time to protect the womb of our birth
The key to our future's this holy earth

A legacy we leave behind
For all the children of future time

REPEAT CHORUS

Instrumental break

Our Fathers fought so we'd be free, What's going to be our legacy
What kind of world will we leave behind, For all the children of future time
How about a world free of poverty, Where no child will go hungry
Where kids are safe and can go to school, Then they won't be so easily fooled
By leaders selling hate and guns, Our time has come, Our time has come, Our time has come

Instrumental break

The time has come, for all of us to raise our consciousness
The time has come, for all of us to raise our consciousness
