LOST FLOWERS IN THE RAIN

Story Behind The Song

I started this song a couple of weeks before the recent school shooting ion Florida. I already had the guitar chord progression and chorus line Lost Flowers in the Rain in my head but thought what was this supposed to mean? Then Parkland occurred and realized what this song was supposed to be about. I used to teach and had a frightening incident occur in one of my classes-one in which I had police in my classroom to remove a disturbed student and at the time really did not know what to expect. Not only does school violence have to be stopped, but the fear of school violence needs to mitigated to as low a level as possible. Students and teachers should not have to live in fear. I hope this song portrays the gravity of this situation-it's "Time to put and end to this show!"

Song Description

It seems to happen over and over again-gun violence in our schools and society. Song is about the impact of gun violence on our schools/society, we are losing too many young flowers to the rain of gun violence and we need to determine what action should be taken to assure our students and teachers will be safe.

VERSE: G,C,D CHORUS: C,G,D

Seems we had another episode
Now it's happening more often then not
Going to be another, probably so
And my heart just can't, bear the thought

Lost flowers in the rain
No rhyme or reason, for such a loss
All the tears, prayers and pain
Can't/Won't bring them back once their gone

CHORUS
Lost flowers in the rain
Been there and back and back again
Don't want a ticket to another show
Flowers with no chance to bloom and grow old

Too many trails of broken hearts
Seems their too soon forgot
I'm sure our memories would be a lot longer
If a flower we loved was one that was lost

Done my share of wondering
Don't take much wondering here to see the truth
I don't give a damn about your agenda
It's time we figured out just what the hell to do

CHORUS
Lost flowers in the rain
Been there and back and back again
Don't want a ticket to another show
Flowers with no chance to bloom and grow old

Lost flowers in the rain
Been there and back and back again
Time to put an end to this show
Flowers drowned in blood for gold
Time to put an end to this show
Flowers drowned in blood for gold
