Story Behind The Song
This summer I fell for a guy who was only living in Nashville for the summer. We were great friends and at the end of the summer, we became more than friends. Naturally, when he had to leave at the end of the summer, I was upset. I tried to get over him and forget about him, but since we had spend the whole summer together, it seemed like every place I went was filled with memories we had shared. Every place I went reminded me of him, and it made it nearly impossible to just forget about him and move on.
Song Description
This song is a song about heartbreak, and that feeling you get after someone leaves, but you are still left with all their memories, and every where you go, that is all you are reminded of. In the first verse, the singer is talking about all the places they had been together and how she can't stand them anymore, and then the chorus emphasizes the idea that his memory is covering her and making it impossible to get over him. The second verse lets you see a more vulnerable side of the singer when she admits that "some nights I still surrender to those tears," and that she has tried to meet other guys and move on but none of them measure up.

Lyrics
Verse 1:
There's a coffee shop on 21st avenue
Used to be my favorite spot, but now it's tainted by the thought of you
There's the park where you held my hand
That street light that watched us dance and a million other places I can't stand...
Chorus:
Cause you are covering me
and I, I can't breathe
Cause everywhere I go,
You are all I see
And I can't move on
Until you are gone
And every little trace of you
Has been erased
From my heart, from my head
But until then,
I'm tainted
Verse 2:
Some nights I still surrender to those tears, I give up acting strong and let myself with you were still here
I've been out and met some real nice guys, but none of them measure up, cause that pedestal I've put you on's too high
Chorus:
Cause you are covering me
and I, I can't breathe
Cause everywhere I go,
You are all I see
And I can't move on
Until you are gone
And every little trace of you
Has been erased
From my heart, from my head
But until then,
I'm tainted
Bridge:
Tainted, Tainted, Tainted, Tainted
Tainted, Tainted, Tainted, Tainted
Chorus:
Cause you are covering me
and I, I can't breathe
Cause everywhere I go,
You are all I see
And I can't move on
Until you are gone
And every little trace of you
Has been erased
From my heart, from my head
But until then,
I'm tainted
