This is a song about wanting to fall in love, but being afraid to. Afraid because the person is somehow forbidden to you, or afraid because of past hurts. The idea is that it's better to stay cool, solid, stuck where you are, than to let on that you feel that you could absolutely melt with this person. It's a song of longing.
