Imagination On Parole

Story Behind The Song

This song came to be after an argument Karen Lou Nicole started with her husband. She made wild, unfounded accusations and found herself trying to justify them with ridiculous explanations and abstract speculations. Time away to reflect on the situation was exactly where these lyrics came from. Karen Lou Nicole was able to position herself in her husbands? shoes and could see first hand how ludicrous and idle her claims were. She realized the potential harm her charges could make and how any accusation is the catalyst for a relationship to deteriorate. Most importantly, she saw how her husband reacted and was blown away by his self control and patience while he discounted and explained each claim. This fueled deep regret and humiliation within the artist and she vowed to be in a state of reflection at all times in the future. This is a reminder to her of that day and a story all couples can relate to strengthen their communication and understand different perspectives.

Song Description

Imagination on Parole is an emotionally charged song which focuses on regret in relationships. The sound is somewhat ambient in nature which is intended to capture the emotions of the listener and then reel them in order to relate to the lyrical story. The combination of a Hi-hat backbeat and muted guitar sets the stage for the lyrical apology and flows effortlessly into the airy sound of the chorus. The simplistic nature of this song helps to stress the nakedness of the heart, which is especially apparent in the bridge. Although blessed with unconditional love, all relationships experience their share of misunderstandings and partners often have a hard time seeing things from the other persons? perspective. It is through these difficult times that true communication and strength emerges. Only when you remove yourself from your feelings and experience the situation through the other person?s shoes do you really see the blessed light of a partnership. That is what this song hopes to uncover. I guarantee that all couples will relate to these lyrics.

Lyrics

IMAGINATION ON PAROLE

There?s this one thing that I?ve been meaning to say
Always so many other words in the way
I never mean to take you for granted
I mean to water the love we planted

I?d like to thank you for all your self control
My imagination should be on parole
I believe sometimes my words sting
I never mean to insult you my king

(Chorus)
All I can say is sorry
But I didn?t mean to write your story
I took away my own glory
But I didn?t mean to write your story

I have embarrassed us both a little by now
I hope to mend this I hope you?ll show me how
Together I know that we?re stronger
And we don?t want to crusade any longer

(Chorus)
Ooooo I didn?t mean to write your story
Ooooo and I?m sorry

About that thing that I?ve been meaning to say
Did all my words come out and play the right way

Ooooo and I?m sorry (I didn?t mean to write your story)

(Chorus x2)
I feel humiliated x2
