My good friend Brian died suddenly....it has been very hard to understand. I want to believe in the afterlife ... and I miss him terribly.

This start of the song represents the moments after death...as if a camera was slowly circling the face of a person who is all alone and has just passed on...then it kicks in to describe the realization of that person in heaven.
The second part of the song is more about the one/ones left behind...and the struggle to cope with the loss.
