Story Behind The Song
This was my first co-write ever. It was with Cary Beare, guitarist for Deanna Carter and Heart and the nicest person you?ll ever meet. We were up in his home on Lookout Mountain Dr, in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles, early on a Saturday morning when we came up with ?Take Me?. Cary lives in the former home of the 1960?s producer Paul Rothchild and the ghosts of inspiration were definitely floating around. This was the very home where Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and many others had recorded and/or sought their inspiration all those years ago. ?If you love someone, set them free? is the crux of this song. I think we can all relate to this, whether being the one to set someone free or the one needing to be set free. The challenge of that is the fear that comes with it?the fear of being
left behind. 3/2005

Lyrics
Take all the time that you need
And I?ll be here
You?ll never find what you want
Standing still
This road we?re on
Keeps dead-ending
It twists and turns
And I keep winding back to you
CHORUS
Don?t go away
Don?t leave me here
If you must go away
Well then, take me
Won?t you take me?
BRIDGE
The door is open
You can run away
Oh oh oh
Or we can close it
If you decide to stay
CHORUS
Don?t go away
Don?t leave me here
If you must go away
Well then, take me
Don?t go away
Don?t leave me here
If you must go away
Well then, take me
Well then, take me
Won?t you take me?
