Story Behind The Song
Everyday I listen intently to the news of soldiers serving or even being killed in the Iraq War. As a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, I wanted to write a Patriotic song about the pride that so many soldiers and families have toward serving our great country to help preserve our freedoms.
Song Description
A young boy grows to love his country, knowing that someday he would become a soldier. He proudly serves his country and goes off to war, knowing that he may not return. He does return and realizes the pride in his mother's eyes has made the sacrifice worthwhile.

Lyrics
I Love My Country
Verse
It started back when I was small, saluting our flag waving tall
And as the soldiers came marching by, I fought back a tear in my eye.
I knew then what I wanted to be, to serve with honor and dignity
And as the love of my country grew, I'm proud of the red, white and blue.
Chorus
I Love My Country, Land of the Free,
And from the mountains, The great plains to the sea;
And I will give and I'll sacrifice, To protect this dream,
I love this land of ours, Home of Liberty.
Bridge
Saying my goodbyes were a test, family and friends did their best;
Knowing that I may not return, Freedom has a price I have learned.
Verse
Looking back at how much I've grown,
And winding down the road leading home.
The tears of pride in my mama's eyes,
Tell me it was worth the sacrifice.
Chorus
I Love My Country, Land of the Free,
And from the mountains, The great plains to the sea;
And I will give and I'll sacrifice, To protecty this dream.
I love this land of ours, Home of Liberty;
And I Love My Country, Home of Liberty.
