Story Behind The Song
An autobiographical song about the author's lifelong search for the next thing that might make his general unhappiness disappear. Still sailing on his ship of fools, he bravely tilts at the next windmill and looks back at his lost love, something that leave him feeling as bad as Rain At Christmas. I worked backwards from the sound of sleigh bells at the end of the song, knowing only that I wanted "Christmas" to somehow fit the lyrics.
Song Description

Lyrics
Count the days gone by,
I can?t get no peace
Trouble always followed me like it was on a leash
Long way to go, nothing to say
And I don?t want to talk about it
Emptiness inside of you
Didn?t leave no room
It?s dim like distant stars constant as the moon
Long way to go, nothing to say
And I don?t want to talk about it
Loving you was like waking up on Christmas Day
Can?t you see the shame sticks to me like blame
I ?m still sailing on this ship of fools
Shadow on my eyes comes as no surpise
You know I miss you, yeah, it feels like like rain at Christmas
Pictures of misery tattooed around my heart
The words flew ?round the room tearing us apart
Long way to go, nothing to say
And you don?t want to talk about it
Loving you was like waking up on Christmas Day
What else can I say?
Can?t you see the shame sticks to me like blame
I ?m still sailing on this ship of fools
Shadow on my eyes comes as no surprise
You know I miss you, it feels like rain at Christmas
Can?t you see the shame sticks to me like blame
I ?m still sailing on this ship of fools
Shadow on my eyes comes as no surprise
You know I miss you, I miss you, I miss you now
I ?m still sailing on this ship of fools
I hear it raining I still miss you now
It feels like rain at Christmas
