Obviously that was a fictional script but the reality is just the same. You know its not going to end well but you do it just the same. In my case, she was many years younger than I was, but we clicked so easily. I never thought that she would feel the same way as I did, but the incredible thing was at the time that she did! Of course, she had to let me know eventually as I was stumbling around thinking does she or doesn't she? She told me later that she was as nervous as I, but she just put her arm through mine and said 'I want to be with you'. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. This song was about the agony of knowing that she had things in her life that were not going to change because she met me. Younger girls and older guys (and the other way around) sometimes it all ends in disaster, she needs to fly and you've already done most of that.
