Banks of the Sabine

After fighting with my wife, I went and set by the river. I took out pen and paper, and wrote what I was seeing in front of me. I come to the conclusion that I will always want to come home again.

Lyrics

The sun sinks low
A warm summer breeze
Blows thru the willow trees

Kids splash around
Trying to beat the heat
Their laughter is like a melody

An old oak tree
With a long rope swing
Makes a shade for you and me

And there's no place that I'd rather be
Than lying with you on the banks
Banks of the old Sabine

The river runs deep
And holds many memories
A lifetime of you and me

It's were I was baptized
When I was sixteen
It's where I took my first drink

And we made love
One hot July night
And you said yes you would be my wife

And there's no place that I'd rather be
Than lying with you on the banks
Banks of the old Sabine

Time like a river
Rolls to the sea
And takes it toll on you and me

When my time here is thru
Do one favor for me
Don't let em burry me

Sprinkle my ashes
On a warm summer breeze
And I'll float down the old Sabine

And there's no place that I'd rather be
Than lying with you on the banks
Banks of the old Sabine
