Over My Shoulder

Story Behind The Song

I think the long description says it all. Truthfully, this is a new set of lyrics I wrote for a song I came up with 4 years ago. It has refreshed the song for me.

Song Description

A mellow and poignant song about a guy who's going to 'stick it out' but suspects his true love has moved onto someone else. He awaits the 'killer blow' hoping that his steadfast love will win through.

Lyrics

Looking Over My Shoulder Ac 2009

I used to thrill to the touch of your hand
Seems like it was yesterday
It was enough to be near you
Know you'd never go away
I never thought I'd have to hear you say

I don't know you anymore
Our love is growing colder
I can't be in love looking over my shoulder

We wrote our own rules
Had the courage to be free
And we laughed at the fools
Because they couldn't see
There was room for more with you and me

I don't know you anymore
Our love is growing colder
I can't be in love looking over my shoulder

The young break old taboos
But now I'm feeling older
I can't be in love looking over my shoulder

So we'll do things like we do
Sure life just rolls along
And I won't say this to you
You won't think nothing's wrong
But I'm not sure I wanna sing our new song

Final Chorus
I don't know you anymore
Our love is growing colder
I can't be in love looking over my shoulder
No, I can't be in love looking over my shoulder
