Misery

Story Behind The Song

I wanted to write a really up tempo car song that could take the paint off a wall. I was going through a Bob Dylan period where he made to top ten in my CD case for the car. I pictured a guy with a flat top haircut and Camels rolled up in his sleeve the whole time I wrote the tyrade. The music came next with the engine beat and grind.

Song Description

A guy and his woman breaks up...he gets crazy after awhile thinking about her and missing the love they had. He gets really anxious and hits the road looking for her before he busts.

Lyrics

FOUR BALD TIRES RUNNIN' DOWN THE ROAD
DOIN' BETTER THAN EIGHTY HOPIN' ONE DON'T BLOW
BUT WHEN YOU KNOW IT'S NOW OR NEVER MAN YOU GOTTA GO
GONNA GET THAT WOMAN BACK BECAUSE I LOVE HER SO

THE SUN IT AIN'T BEEN SHININ' FOR SO MANY DAYS
MY LIFE HAS BEEN A CHANGIN' IN SO MANY WAYS
BUT I KNOW IF I FIND HER THINGS WILL BE O.K.
I CAN'T LOVE ANOTHER WOMAN AND I SURE AIN'T GAY

THE RADIO IS BLASTIN' SOME OLD GEORGE JONES SONG
I HOPE I MAKE MY DESTINATION BEFORE TOO LONG
I CAN FEEL IT IN MY BONES I KNOW I CAN'T BE WRONG
SHE WILL TAKE ME BACK AGAIN AND OUR LOVE'S STILL STRONG
(CHORUS)
BABY COME ON BACK INTO MY ARMS
I KNOW I SEEM CRAZY BABY DON'T BE ALARMED
KISS ME ONCE AGAIN AND PUT MY MIND AT EASE
EVER SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE I'VE BEEN IN MISERY

LEAD

ENGINE STEAMIN' PISTONS POUNDIN' IN MY EARS
MY HEART IS JUST AS LOUD CAUSE LOSIN'S ALL I FEAR
WITH EVERY MILE THAT PASSES I KNOW YOU ARE NEAR
I SEE THE WHITE LINES LIKE BULLETS IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR

PASSIN' OLD WOMEN LIKE THEY'RE STANDIN' STILL
I'VE CAUGHT SOME ICY STARES AND DIRTY LOOKS THAT KILL
THEY CAN TAKE A FLYIN' LEAPE CAUSE I'VE HAD MY FILL]
OF LONELY DAYS AND NIGHTS WITHOUT YOU SLEEPIN' PILLS

NOBODY CAN STOP ME NOW I'M FEELIN' GOOD
BOUT WHAT I'M BOUT TO DO AND THINKIN' THAT I SHOULD
FIND YOU ONCE AGAIN AND THINKIN' THAT I COULD
GET IT ALL STRAIGHT WITH YOU AND GET IT UNDERSTOOD

(CHORUS)

LEAD

CHORUS 2X....OUT
