Lyrics

?Osage Lullaby?
Copyright 2002 Jim R. Cave

Born and raised in a, oil town,
Those poppin wells had a, soothing sound.
Some were high, some were low,
My lullaby, of years ago.

I recall that, lonesome sound,
Of rockin oil, from the ground.
In the air, sweet, prairie smells,
Of the Osage, and its, oil wells.

CHORUS:
Osage Lullaby,
Blows in the wind, drifts through the sky.
You and I for,ever tied,
By an oil town, lullaby.

Prairie stars and, buffalo,
Feel the rockin wells on the, ground below.
And in the wind, Rock-a-bye,
Hear the Osage, lullaby.

Late at night, dark hotel,
I hear the call, of oil wells.
Some are high, some are low,
My lullaby, of years ago.

There?s a price that, we all pay,
For spendin time, too far away.
Too many years and, cheap hotels,
I miss my home and those, oil wells.

(Repeat CHORUS)

I?ve been away for, way too long,
But in my mind, I, still go home.
No sleeping pills or, countin sheep,
Could ever help this, man to sleep.

In my bed, I, turn back the page,
And dream at night, of the Osage.
Rocked to sleep, as I, close my eyes,
And in the wind, hear, a lullaby.

Osage Lullaby,
Blows in the wind, drifts through the sky.
You and I for,ever tied,
By an oil town, lullaby.
