I'll Work For Food

Story Behind The Song

All too often any more, large companies close divisions of their organizations. What happens to the office personell that has gone to school for business management, that has taken a job as a trainee, but has not quite made it high enough to become recognized. Too corperate to be considered for a laborer job, not experianced for a skilled job, no corperate jobs on the market but too proud to give up? Truth!!

Lyrics

?I?ll Work For Food?

Every single morning, I?d see him there
With his clean shaven face, and his well groomed hair
Holding a cardboard sign, with a look of despair

Day after day as we just drove by
He?d smile and wave then he?d let out a sigh
Trying to comprehend how noone could care

(Bridge)
This morning I stopped to give him a hand, a little gift of charity
All my emotions raced to my eyes, as he said to me

(Chorus)
?I?m not a begger or a user, I?m not a three time loser
It?s just, sometimes life seems to go the way, that noone would ever choose
It?s so very kind that you would give, but that?s not what I need from you
What I really need is a job right now, and for now, I?ll work for food?

He said, ?I went to school to be a corporate man,
Too low on the ladder to stand a chance,
When the bottom dropped out, well somebody had to fall?

?Now I do what I can to try to survive
And to hold on to what may be left of my pride
As I pray that one day soon I will get the call?

(Bridge)
I stood there amazed at the strength that he had and how painful it must be
As we stood there in front of the cars that went by, again he made his plea

(Chorus)
