Story Behind The Song
Gaurav Guliani, drummer for rising Nashville band Jimmy B & the Fortune 500, wrote "Black Gold" as part of a songwriting class at Vanderbilt University.

Lyrics
Downtown last night
Nobody said anything
Didn't seem like we were at war
Throw back a few
Tell some more jokes
Watch the Final Four
A game for the politicians
The soldiers and the generals
Its easy for me to ignore
Who cares what happens
To those stinking towelheads
Tell me the Kansas score
Join the US Corporation
Gonna take you to salvation
As we take over your nation
Your blood is an invitation
Economic integration
Of the future generations
Its your moral obligation
To join the US Corporation
She woke up to the sirens
The dust and debris
As bombs dropped on her soul
Two days short of ten
Would she make it out again?
How is she gonna be whole?
Father killed in 94
Going to the market
Its all beyond her control
Gonna kill everybody
Only life she ever knew
All in the name of black gold
[chorus]
Listen to your leader
He always tells the truth
