Song Description
Hitchhiking from Pennsylvania to Texas to meet up with my brother who was shipping out of Houston on merchant vessels, I wrote the original lyric out of a combined sense of isolation, excitement and travel-weariness.

Lyrics
Houston
Took to the highway on April Fool?s Day
Had it in mind to chase a gypsy wind
First night, bone tired ?Pennsylvania - built a fire
Thought about my friends and songs we would sing
One?s in Colorado; Two have sailed to the China Sea
Two are on their way down to Houston to see my brother; a good friend to me
I was a stranger to the blacktop path
Now it has become my friend
I?m waiting for a chariot of good intent to roll my way
Can?t say how this started; don?t know when it will end
Chorus
If you notice me upon the road
Say a prayer I find my way home
There was a time that I felt fine
Now it?s hard to just crank out a tune
Talked to my guru ? some guitar player in tennis shoes
He tells me it will all be over soon.
Chorus
