Through Anything

Story Behind The Song

Another tune in the wake of a relationship. I've probably got an entire albums worth of material just from that... The good side of it all was all of the ideas I took, once it all was over.. This would be my take on all of the suspiscions I had of infidelity and how tough it was never knowing whether it was true or not.. Finally after enough of it had weighed down on my mind it toppled over into "f**k it" territory. I realized I'd never find out, not with my work schedule and taking care of her child in the mix, so I had to learn to deal with it, and it wasn't long after that I started getting all the proof that I needed between the lines. You could say it was over not long after that. :)

Song Description

More or less, I was looking for a driving song when I wrote this. hence all the "slide" guitar in it. Personally the story in the lyrics is the turmoil of an unfaithful relationship. But I try to keep the music completely on another page than the storyline in certain areas, and not so much when the chorus plots out the message..

Lyrics

well I took your hand as a notion
I'd said my last farewell to you
so many alibis spread over time baby
tend to change your point of view

always starin over my shoulder
in a wonder what one day I'll find
someday you'da looked around my corner
it was only a matter of time

(chorus)

So I'll stall my last confession
darlin it's all I can do
& I'll move on with no regrets
though I don't want to

Placin the distance on memories
with what I have left, won't make it right
we might've made it through anything baby
just not tonight

(verse)

a hundred good reasons to say "I'm not happy"
when you could've changed all that
the worn down floor I've walked,
if these walls could talk,
they'd say leave and don't look back

I might wind up insane
it's all the same to be wound up in you
if I stay, it will only delay,
just how lonely I'll be, wound up in you

(chorus)

So I'll stall my last confession
darlin it's all I can do
& I'll live on with no regrets
though I don't want to

placin the distance on memories
with what I have left, won't make it right
we might've made it through anything
just not tonight-
