This song tells the story of a guy asking the woman he is dating for more of a commitment. She is open and honest when they are alone together, but is not so open around other people. He wants her to commit fully to the relationship. He is saying that he needs to know that she is his for the long haul. The song was written as a response to many of the songs out today which depict men as without feelings and without a want for long term relationships. Usually it is the woman asking the man for more in a relationship. Men have the same need for stability and long term relationships, We are just reluctant to say that. This song turns the tables and speaks for the majority of men out there who may unable to say what they feel.
