Story Behind The Song
I'm from Missouri and after the recent Joplin tornado I was moved and wrote this song about growing up in the midwest, my grandparents farm and the things my grandma used to say. The resilience and the strength in the character of our human spirit is so powerful. And as my grandma used to say "You just gotta put them boots back on Jennifer and get back out there."
Song Description
Reminiscing about life and the places we grow up. Life changes, the places we grow up change, we can look back and in the midst of harder times remember what our grandparent or parents taught us. We need to keep our head up and our chin held high and keep pushing forward to be the best version of ourselves we can be. Don't let the tough times get you down.

Lyrics
That was my daddy's lemon tree
Right there across the street
Next to a porch that had a swing we'd rest upon
And we'd watch the clouds come rollin in
With their velvet wings and then
We'd sit and talk about the day that had come and gone
And grandma'd say to me
You can't worry bout those little things
You gotta keep your head up, just stay strong
And put them boots back on
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me down
No I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me down
There was a garden over here
I planted seeds in it every year
And watched them grow into the foods we'd feast upon
The smell of a home cooked meal
Comin from the kitchen you could see the fields
I've got a life time of memories in this home
And I don't know quite how
This will all work out
I gotta keep my head up just stay strong
And put them boots back on
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me down
No I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me down
And this old pick up truck is gonna help me pick the pieces up
I'm gonna keep my head up just stay strong and put them boots back on
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me down
No I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me
I ain't gonna let this get me down
I'm gonna put them boots back on
