CAN SHE LEAVE IT ALONE?

Intro Can she leave it alone
Verse I
His letter lies on the kitchen table
Unopened there's a flicker of hope
But if he's thrown in the towel she wonders how
She'll ever find the strength to cope
There?s no denying it's presence
As she sips from her coffee cup
And sooner or later she knows she'll have to
Sit down and open it up
Chorus
Can she leave it alone one more day by the telephone
Not reading the words that he?s written her
Rememberin? the love they?ve known
Lost between her dreams and another heartache
She prays for the strength to read what he has to say
Verse II
She's picking it up now she's putting it down
Afraid of what it might bring
A flood of emotion with no middle ground
Could break her heart or make it sing
Her angry words spoken in haste
Keep running through her head
Is he feeling like her troubled right now
Sorry for what was said
Bridge
She finally gathers the courage
Throwing caution to the wind
She reads I love you and miss you so
Let?s start all over again
3rd Chorus
Now she doesn't have to leave it alone
One more day by the telephone
Only Reading the words that he?s written her
Rememberin? the love they?ve known
No longer lost between her dreams and another heartache
Her prayers have been answered now in that letter today
