Lyrics

It Was Love
©Jeffrey C. Ashbaker 6-2013

The children are grown, they're not kids anymore
They're more like a memory, they come and they go
And she closed up shop a long time ago
Said the romance was gone from my eye

So we meet in the middle, 50/50, one half
If she can move forward, then I can step back
It starts with a smile and ends with a laugh
And it's something that money can't buy

-Pre Chorus-
It might be a feeling a slow moving thought
It's more than a hunger, cuz it never stops
You never ask why, when the answer's because
And if you're never quite sure what it was
---Chorus---
It was love
(uh, uh, uv) 3
-----------------
I don't know what I'm thinking, if I'm thinking at all
It seems that you're winking and if I can recall
I gave you my heart, you took the thorn from my paw
And I never have been quite the same

We're both getting older obviously
But there's nothing wrong with you or with me
As strange as it seems, it's all meant to be
There ain't nothing that I'd ever change
-Repeat Pre Chorus-
--Repeat Chorus--

It sends me somewhere in the shadows

This is a really upbeat song about love....vocals are clear and up front...female backing just at the right level for accompanying lead vocal...enjoyed the star quality of this song....

Cute little love song. Nice and positive.

This is really, really well done!! It is hard to find original lyrics these days but yours are wonderful! So creative and fresh! The song builds nicely with the arrangement and melody continuing to progress. The instrumentation/recording quality sounds pretty good to me.

Beautifully sung and great instrumentation with the acoustic and electric guitars in the background

Very pleasant sound with a very good beat and a really good message. Instrumentation is ideal for this piece.

Great hook, vocal, instrumentation nice lyrics

Here's an interesting story about a couple that was together, raised their kids, drifted apart, and are coming back together after an interval of years. Terrific song plot! Great guitar intro. Instrumentation is sweet and tight. Catchy hook that is fun to listen to. My favorite rhyme: winking/thinking. I love this lyric: Thorn from the paw. Very original! Instrumental guitar lead is fantastic, fun to listen to. Unique story, very engaging. Nice job!

Great vocal sound. Cool instrumentation. Fine recording. Lead guitar was a treat. Good strong accessible lyrics. Enjoyed.
