Song Description

Empowerment song about being yourself, to the point where you exude so much confidence people around you think you own a diamond mine.

Story Behind the Song

This is an empowerment song about having the confidence to be yourself. It is based on my friend's daughter who was having a particularly hard time from some other teenage girls, but she found the confidence to rise above it, do what she wanted to do and find new friends and a new life. Incredible and really inspirational that someone so young, dug so deep to find the confidence to pull herself out of such an emotionally difficult time.

sounds a little like Joanie Mitchell early on---nice harmonies

    - Patrick E. Muth/Catnip Pat

I like the sound of the sound of the piano and the lead guitar as well. Very good lead vocals as well.

Diamond Mine
© J. Edna May Thomas

Verse 1
Gonna practise my smile till its real and strong
Gonna put my favourite red lipstick on
Ho-ld my head high
Cos there's an ocean of steel deep inside of me

Bridge
When you see me, when you see me,
You're gonna think,
I've got a

chorus
Diamond mine, Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh,
Diamond mine, Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh,

Verse 2
Gonna ride this wave, if it pulls me under
I'll get on again.
Gonna sail this storm, noise is just thunder,
I'm not afraid to fail .
Ho-ld my head high
Cos there's an ocean of steel deep inside of me.

Bridge
When you see me, when you see me,
You're gonna think,
I've got a

chorus
A diamond mine, Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh,
A diamond mine, Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh,
Cos I walk and I talk, And I laugh and I cry,
I don't care what you think about me.
Cos I say what I believe, I won't lie to you,
I don't care what you say about me.
This is my life, This is my life
When you see me you're gonna think
That I have got a diamond mine

Middle 8
Instrumental

chorus
A diamond mine, Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh,
A diamond mine, Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh,
Cos I walk and I talk, And I laugh and I cry,
I don't care what you think about me.

I don't care what you say about me.
This is my life, This is my life
