Story Behind The Song
'Hourglass' is set to a dreamy, neo trance like soundtrack. When I started writing the 'Hourglass' lyrics, my words were motivated from breaking up with a boyfriend. I was finishing the song when I was involved with another relationship that was also not working out like I had hoped.
During the filming process of the music video, the theme changed to finding myself in my own hourglass of life, and loving myself in all stages of it. From seeing photos of myself as a little flower girl to seeing myself as a mature adult I accept all of me.
A photo is included in the middle of the video of my Mom when she was a teenager looking at herself in the mirror. My Mother passed away during the final stages of editing 'Hourglass'. I had miraculous moments being at my Mom's bedside and being with her as all the sands completed sifting through her hourglass.
