Story Behind The Song
Describes the timeline of a young man (me) coming to a new city and finding himself and his place among friends and in life. There was a rooftop that he and his closest friends would retire to after long nights of drinking to take in the city that they live in. No having moved away from the city and his friends, the song decribes his reminiscent recollection of those nights.

Lyrics
Rooftop Nights
Crawl out of the shell that brought you in
Give your baby eyes the chance to see like men
Open up your wings for your first flight
Take a shot to the side and fall from sight
Now you Wonder through the halls of downtown lights
Scale the roof at night to see them from up high
Though it seems these clouds that rolled into the Austin sky
Deny your eyes the chance to see for miles
Those who know your face know your never gonna lay down and die
Regardless of the way you feel inside
And though you were gunned down the first time you spread your wings to fly
From a down and out devil in your mind
Your mighty eyes saw more above the neon lights
Behold the drunken rooftop nights
Now Awake to find one day that you've grown old
There's so many things you haven't told
But You cleaned off all the bullshit you've been sold
And Shed the fears that you were taught to know
For years you always found your truth in wine
Til the morning comes and you long again for night
But the buildings grown to high to scale to roof and see through the neon signs
Now you're just too old to let the days roll by
But your mighty ass saw more from the roof now are you blind?
To memory of rooftop nights
I left it all for the dream
Was it for you or for me
Fair's not to hold you responsible for leaving
Ashamed to leave my home and I am ashamed to let you know
That I was dying inside on my own
In the days that I'm reminded of the roof in which we owned at night
I'm sore and I long for my home
In case you've yet to see, I haven't stopped
