Don't Take It

Story Behind The Song

I was a bit pissed after running through one set of brick walls after another trying to get reviews for my (at that time) new CD I was releasing. I needed an outlet. I wrote the song and saved it for the "Through My Eyes" CD. The outro is done with a party atmosphere to go along with my brush off attitude about the situation I was in at the time.

Lyrics

We've been going down this road all night,
And I want to let you know,
That I've been feeling like I've been falling away,
The nights have grown so cold,

I had to see for myself to believe,
That you were always running circles,
But I see, yes I see, yes I see right through you,
You're under the gun,

You can say what you mean, do you mean what you say,
And if you feel what you mean, and you feel that way,
I won't concede, you can do what you may, it's my life,

When you feel the world's on your shoulders,
And it seems like you never win,
Well don't you just lie down and take it,
If you do you've just lost the race,

Along the way you know I'd lost my sight,
Of the things that I had learned,
I was blinded by the promise of fame,
I'm vindicated,

You can see with your eyes, but you're blind with your mind,
You talk straight ahead, you lie from behind,
You don't believe, well I say that's fine,
It's my life,

When you feel the world's on your shoulders,
And it seems like you never win,
Well don't you just lie down and take it,
If you do you've just lost the race,

Well now now look at how the tables have turned,
Cause you're the one who's broken,
And the pain and the rage can you feel it burning,
You're under the gun,

You can say what you mean, do you mean what you say,
And if you feel what you mean, and you feel that way,
I won't concede, you can do what you may, it's my life,

When you feel the world's on your shoulders,
And it seems like you never win,
Well don't you just lie down and take it,
If you do you've just lost the race,
