McKenzie's Song

Story Behind The Song

The loss of a baby is a very tragic experience in the life of a young couple. The first verse of this song describes the empty feelings I worked through after having a miscarriage. The second verse describes my feelings of loss after the death of my grandmother in that same year. This song was a gift from the Lord to help heal my pain. I studied a passage of Scripture in Isaiah that says, ?I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were two seraphs, ...and they were calling to one another, 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.?? In Revelation 4 the Scriptures describe God on his throne, and again it says of those around him that, ?Day and night they never stop saying, ?Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.?? And so the vision of comfort God gave to me is that my daughter, and my grandmother are kneeling before the throne of God, constantly singing praises to God with the most beautiful music imaginable. And I believe that when I lift my voice in praise to that same God--in that moment, our voices sing together. I know that all of you out there have lost someone close to you, someone you loved immensely. I hope that as you hear the words to this song, that it brings the same comfort to your heart as is did to mine.

McKenzie?s Song (Surrounded by Angels)

Verse 1
I never saw your face,
Never held your little hand,
Never heard you cry.

You were my gift from God,
A precious little child,
But only for a while.

Chorus 1
And now, you sing surrounded by angels.
You sing to the Lamb.
You kneel before the throne, while I lift my hands in praise,
But we sing together,
?Holy, holy, holy is the Lamb.?
?Holy, holy, holy is the Lamb.?

Verse 2
Her hands were old and worn,
Her eyes no longer saw,
And her heart was tired.

Her body was broken,
But her spirit is alive!
And there?s no more pain in heaven.

Chorus 2
And now, she sings surrounded by angels.
She sings to the Lamb.
She runs the streets of gold, while I walk on Earth,
But we sing together,
?Holy, holy, holy is the Lamb.?
?Holy, holy, holy is the Lamb.?
