Story Behind The Song
One stormy night just before bed, lightning struck far off in a lane cut through my woods. Somehow the last bit of light from the strike, a glimmer, made me think of a glass slipper melting.
Song Description
is from a "stable hand's" point of view. The stable hand is a young man who must take care of the horses, but is not allowed to attend the ball. He finds the "glass slipper", which is actually just a glimmer from a lightning strike. His last chance to meet Cinderella is just before midnight when she leaves the ball. Cinderella secretly admires him, and his last minute attempt to take her away. But the guards do not.

Lyrics
I heard a wisper in the rain
The ball is set to go at dark
Can the horses ease my pain
Start a fire with just this spark
Was it meant to be
Was it destiny
Is their writting on the wall
Chorus
Cinderella won't you
Make me better and
Won't you take me to the ball
The King is sleeping and the
Queen is weeping
Jack's the one to take the fall
Lightning flashes through the rain
I saw a glimmer in the dark
Somewhere you felt my pain
The slipper melted like my heart
Was it meant to be
Was it destiny
Is their writting on the wall
Chorus
It's midnight in the rain
The mice scurry in the dark
Did you have to feel my pain
Or just the beating of my heart
Was it meant to be
Was it destiny
Was the writting on wall
Chorus
