Make Your Move

Story Behind The Song

Make Your Move is an Essence Magazine and Berklee College of Music Award Winning Song. This song was originally recorded in 2006, when Jake was a troubled 15 year old, who was questioning his life and his faith and what direction his Music was headed. After attending church with a close friend that knew of his troubles, Jake knew he had to write this song not only to get out his thoughts that were troubling him, but to help others who might be having these same thoughts. And through this song Jake was not only able to express his faith in Jesus and what the gift of music means to him. But also how important music is to help people understand their feelings, and about how a person's faith in a higher power can help them overcome their adversities and truly receive the gift that God has to offer them.

Lyrics

Make Your Move

I was born with the beauty of music up in my hear let it shine threw my soul to illuminate the dark,
even though past times in my life been hard.
I have never compromised my art expression of thoughts.
Keep me leveled in this world full of sin, won't settle till the devil stops envying men.
Until the Lord comes again, Im'a stay making, music for nation consumed by the hatred.
Mother earth is breathing her last breaths, taking her last steps we the new age Aztecs
Leaving our mark on history walls our songs is like the scrolls left by the men of old.
As the story unfolds let hope fulfill your aspirations and ignore the killjoys,
yo Im'a ill boy that's what they saying now, but in the rap life nobody holds the crown.
More of sad life filled with glock sounds, fake friends always riding on the jock now.
Just like the block pal you gotta hold ya own, find ya own purpose and make it ya own thrown.

(Chorus)
Its gets hard in the jungle not for meek or humble ( you gonna struggle you gonna struggle)
But you can't let it pull you under brother you gotta muscle (in the hustle in this hustle)
You gotta press on and find ya way you can't wait today you gotta make your move
Even though that the sky is grey you can't wait on the rain you gotta job to do.

It's all about you and the plans you made to bring you closer to the goals that Jehovah,
has laid out before ya.
You have to be a warrior confronting ya demons, all the sin that you seeing you see it for a reason.
You dreaming its reality my brother, a place where you get murdered for salary,
Mortality is ugly but you gotta make the best of it, before your soul vanishes and you die with rest of it.
Eternity is a harsh word 8 letters put together hit hard than a Mossberg, shot heading straight threw ya sternum ya feel ya heart burning.
But I think I got the serum his name is Jesus Christ and he died to save ya life and he made me write this song so I can help his children move on.
