Say No to Hate

Story Behind The Song

Standing in my living room when I watched the Twin Towers come crumbling down on TV something in my spirit cried out... I knew the world would never be the same again. It is true that a part of us hurts when we see others hurt... I felt it was time we reminded ourselves we are human and that we should care... and we can make a CHANGE in this world. I was new to Hyderabad and didnt know any musicians and didnt have contacts to get the song recorded. Somehow I couldnt sit aside and do nothing. I was able to contact Christopher Ferns and his band who were immensely helpful. Benjamin and Trevor helped me with the background score though the whole thing was new to them. It is a very amateur effort, but what I can say for sure is that 'It comes from the bottom of my heart!' In November 2008 when the terrorists struck Mumbai I relived that same feelings all over again. I had wished that this song would reach many people way back in 2001, we had put it up on a website for sometime. That was all I could do then. It is my hope that the message would reach as many people possible and that people would realize their power.

Song Description

This song was written after 9/11. It is an appeal against terrorism and violence of every kind. It appeals to all people from around the world to unite to fight against violence and hatred. It reasons that peace cannot be brought about through pain and destruction. It reminds us that everyone feels pain the same way, no matter which part of the globe they may be living in.

*Say No to Hate* - a song by Henrietta Decruz

Where is the heart that hurts when others cry
Look around and see and try to understand why
Do you believe that pain can solve anything
Do you think that hate can bring peace in the world
Who is the enemy we're fighting you must understand....

Chorus:
Across the earth, the countries, the people of this world
We all feel pain, it hurts us when we lose someone dear
Don't let them win this war, they're waging against us
We must unite and love the people of this world

Wake those who're sleeping tell them about it
Tell them you care for them... they shouldn't doubt it
Take all the power you have into your hands
Build up and strengthen, join hands... across the land.

Say no to prejudice say no to violence
Say no to racism seeds of hate inside us
Say no to those who spread terror in this world
Show them we care we stand with those who are hurt

Stand up my brother, my sister, every child raise your hand
You can make a difference, don't fear, you can take a stand
Let it be known our destiny lies in our hands
We are the people it is we who rule the world.
