views their constant exhaustion
with such an overwhelming admiration for the inert

mounds their food in the most attractive display of abundance
seen in the Western World on this side of the TV screen

is lauded and loved with the genuine emotion born of independence,
not in the manner of a canine tribute to the leader of the pack
but by my cats, who--after severe, prolonged, rigorous scrutiny, followed by an extended period of quiet contemplation--
are curious enough to look into my soul
and are satisfied with their creation
