They said it was flowing with milk and honey - the land that God promised to give
A place so free from sin and oppression where we and our children could live
We'd be able to worship the God of our fathers and eat the fruit of the land
We're not there yet but we're pressing on while we're led by His mighty hand

There's some who say they are disappointed - that God hasn't kept to His word
They say we were doing just fine back in Egypt before all this freedom occurred
They refuse to acknowledge the goodness of God and all the mercy He's shown
They tell me that God has forgotten His promise - and we'll just have to do this alone

We're travelling on and the Land of Promise gets closer with each passing day
There were people and problems we had to face and they tried to get in our way
Today we're standing on Jordan's banks and we're amazed at all we can see
