Love the vocal quality here. The lyrics, melody, and phrasing are working so well here. This has a 60's Pop vibe with the harpsichord like sound of the keys. The strong back beat really anchors this, and the hints of banjo & accordion are really nice. This is more like a European Pop song than Country, and that's just fine. Nice work.

interesting song, reminds me of Jefferson Airplane, nice vocal

Lyrics

DARK EYES
Copyright 2016
MUSIC AND LYRICS BY PETER SCHWEPKER

VERSE ONE

Dark Eyes
Slave to the wind
Best you don't ask
Places where she's been
She's still floating
Lost in the air
Those who would love her
Don't have a prayer

CHORUS

Don't blame her when she leaves
Turn your wrath to the wind
No one can hold
Dark Eyes in the end
She would give all her beauty
To honestly say
She's coming home
And she's going to stay
Someday

BRIDGE

GOOD BYE, DARK EYES
GOOD BYE, DARK EYES
GOOD BYE, DARK EYES
GOOD BYE, DARK EYES

VERSE TWO

You'll find
Storms in her skies
You'll see the changes
Deep in her eyes
You'll see dark clouds,
Lightning within
You must prepare
For it means the end

CHORUS

Don't blame her when she leaves
Turn your wrath to the wind
No one can hold
Dark Eyes in the end
She would give all her beauty
To honestly say
She's coming home
And she's going to stay
Someday

Choir at end

GOOD BYE, DARK EYES
GOOD BYE, DARK EYES
GOOD BYE, DARK EYES
GOOD BYE, DARK EYES
