Lyrics
Traveller (poem)
Traveller has few answers, fewer questions still
yet keeping vigil walks the Shenandoah hills
where ever-higher spires greet the rising sun
where temple-rivers drop to depths of souls unfound
and thus to last deliverance at the Shrine of God
smiling down radiant days ?cross darkened Traveller?s face
as hardened men will weep, so gentle forests shall rejoice
is it a curse or blessing gives us choice?
then in a twinkling of his tear-drowned eye
Traveller sees the secret of that outer reach
the sphinx at last reveals the How and Why
that was for age on age its sacred guard
his ship?s come home, the last great sanctuary
safe in the holy frontiers of his private heart
