Brothers & Sisters

Story Behind The Song

My parents died. We struggled. We miss them. I wrote a song about it.

Song Description

When sons and daughters inevitably lose their parents, it can leave a hole that sometimes never gets filled. This was my attempt to touch those feelings lightly in a way that calls to mind better days for all.

Lyrics

Their faces look back at me
through broken glass
and a wooden frame
and I hear them call my name
when times were more
happy

Their faces live now only in memory
And through things they once said
Only to me
When times were hard
for my brothers and sisters

and I can't believe
they're gone
and somehow life
moves on

so we wake up every day
going about the business of living our lives
and through the prism of each other's eyes
much to our dismay
we know something
is missing
it's that nagging
feeling

and I can't believe
they're gone
and somehow life
moves on

Their faces look back at me
through broken glass
and a wooden frame
and I hear them call my name
when times were more
happy

and I can't believe
they're gone
and somehow life
moves on
