Story Behind The Song
Heard the name "Jonus Grumby" was the character name of the Skipper on Gilligan's Island and it stuck in my head. It was written with the idea that after being rescued, the Skipper marries MaryAnn but secretly is pining for Ginger.
Song Description
We find Jonus Grumby lying in bed, fantasizing about an illicit encounter with a sexy movie starlet on a secluded beach, while his own flesh-and-blood wife sleeps beside him. He dreams of a life on the open sea while plowing a corn field a thousand miles from the nearest coastline. His disappointment with reality has lead him on a desparate search for validation and happiness in the labyrinth of escapist fantasy, oblivious to the satisfaction and fulfillment offered by the Creator who designed him. All this is set in the soundscape of a catchy, eventful mid-tempo blues-rock song. How could you go wrong?

Lyrics
Jonus Grumby
Jonus Grumby was in love with an actress
But he ended up with a farm girl from Kansas
He?d lie awake at night and dream of his goddess
Gold sequins and lipstick not what you?d call modest
They?d run away together hand in hand
To find an open stretch of sand by the sea
And on a bed of seaweed, driftwood and conch shells
They?d make love together in the moon shade of a palm tree
Jonus Grumby sailed the sea of his corn field
Imagining sea spray glancing off of his windshield
He never noticed what he had in his hands
Cuz the only thing he wanted was what he did not have
Jonus Grumby never found out what love is
He thought that it would happen just by osmosis
His hearts aground on this uncharted desert isle
His happiness lies just beyond a beautiful mirage
The Author of his soul is eagerly awaiting
An answer to the knock on his hearts door
He wants to wake him from his disillusioned slumber
To give him life eternal, to satisfy his empty soul
Life is just a broken dream when all you want is a fantasy
Reality is eternally the only thing that will set you free
