Story Behind The Song
I came up with the guitar part first. It's a DADGAD tuning. I had been playing Steve Stills' "Tree-top Flyer" and I sort of went into this. The guitar part required a lyric like this and it eventually came. I always envisioned a couple of old blues guys sittin' on the back porch of some old deep south, country house just pickin' some lazy guitar and coming up with this. It's sort of down-home, back-country, Ry Cooder to me but that's not a choice in your "Similar Artists" selection.
Song Description
What's more to say? Have you ever gotten that phone call a couple weeks or so after someone has broken it off? You know, the one where they say in a sympathetic voice, "I just want to make sure you're doing okay." Like they think your sittin' home alone with gun in your mouth. Anyway, sympathy, pity and such have no place in a relationship. That's what this song is about.
