Lyrics

Kathy

I
In a small white house outside of town, torn up pictures scattered round.
Kathy takes her time to say goodbye.
She wonders how the boy she knew, could turn into a guy a like drew
And how in pretty picture everybody smiles.

II
At 41 she realises that her busted ribs and blackened eyes
Are just a little short of where he said she'd be.
She's scared to run in case he find her, and he does the same a dozen times
Oh lord, in pretty pictures everybody smiles.

Chorus

III
Some times it's hard to say you're leaving .
Some times it's harder than to stay .
Some time it's hard to say you're leaving , and she knows.
'Cos Kathy's leaving him today.

Chorus

IV
On a bar stool somewhere out of town, he slowly pours another down
Then he buys a beer or two for all the guys.
Local hero, local time , but they don't know what hides behind
Because in pretty pictures everybody smiles.

Chorus

V

?? The note she's hung upon the wall, could never really say it all.
At least it gives a clue to what she's done.
The pills are all around the floor, she couldn't take another more.
She'll make a pretty picture when she's found.

Chorus

Rpt end and fade.
