Story Behind The Song
Dedicated to my two most precious children Cheyenne and Canyon.
The story behind the song is simply being a parent and raising your children.
Song Description
The song commences at the very beginning of birth as being the miracle of life and children being parents' pride an joy. As a parent you see them crawl, then walk, but sometimes they fall but they pick themselves up with such determination! Then eventually they run without looking back at their falls as mistakes, such innocence....this allows them to "Shine On" which is one of the vocal motifs sung in the background of the chorus.
The chorus: "Within My Heart Within My Soul" therefore reaffirms that the children are always in the presence of their parents whether they are there physically or not and thus are deeply rooted in the soul of the parents as they reminisce in the past.
In the second verse, it is a description of the effect of raising the children and being there by their side as a parent. When you raise children, you are always there for them, you are their backbone "through thick and thin..", hence they give you a reason to live and inspire you as well to be the best you can be as a person "making you feel so rich". You see them grow "as the seasons change", but regardless of how old they become, you will always be there for them to help them, to guide them in times of trouble and hardships while letting them know that they can count on you..thus the imagery of "a hand reaching out from the shadows to help them as we all do when we reach out when in need to a higher being, whether God, a Creator, or a Christ-like figure!
