Story Behind the Song

The family homestead, like so many in this country have gone the way of so much of rural America. This is my tribute to the home I came from.

Lyrics

Memories

Verse 1
'When I was a child, well, I use to roam.
In the stream behind my house,
So long ago.
there was a woods and places to go.
Tress, birds and flowers and a whole lot more.
CHORUS
Now it is gone and I don't know why.
I guess someone thought my memories should die, die die die.

Verse 2
I'd go with my dog and the gun that I owned.
We'd sometimes get lost, but know one would know.
We'd laugh and we played and we'd rolled on the ground.
We tell funny stories with no one around.

CHORUS
Now it is gone and I don't know why.
I guess someone thought my memories should die, die die die.

Verse 3
They said it would always stay pretty and grand.
But the money and riches just got out of hand.
The steam and the trees and the trails are gone.
The kids who now live there will never know.

Chorus
Now it is gone and I don't know why.
I guess someone thought my memories should die, die die die.

Bridge

Verse 4
Well, I love the land that gave me my soul.
It lives in my my heart it will never grow old.
When I get tired and worried 'bout life,
I think of the land that gave me my life.

Chorus
It'll never leave me do you know why?
Because I refuse to let it die, die die die."
