I heard love me harder by Ariana Grande and decided I wanted to do something similar. It came out with some shallow hints and tie-ins but overall it is very standalone.
Song Description
I allowed myself to commit to a relationship. I avoid hardcore commitment and this was unusual, but I found myself plunging headlong into this other person. Trying to understand her as much as possible but I kept trying to change her at the same time. In my mind I was trying to improve things about her, but in reality it was ego. I was looking at the things I liked about myself, and deciding she should have the same properties.
I think we both knew that the timing was off, but we pushed past that and kept forcing a relationship. Time and time again we would ammicably split up, but that wouldn't last long and before long we'd reunite. We limited physical contact during these times. It didn't really matter, it's too easy to communicate love physically regardless of limitations. So, to really try to break things off we tried to end all physical contact. A week would float by with no communication, but either she forgot a sweater at my place or had to return something and we'd set ourselves back quite a bit. The more time we spent apart the more desire accumulated to be together.
I've convinced myself that what is meant to happen will happen. I think it was impatient to pursue something in bad timing but the youth in us at the time couldn't see that. I think its tons easier to fall out of love and continue floating through life. I think we're both better off for it.
