Story Behind The Song
This is about the closest I've come to writing rap lyrics. These words really move on this song! I love the energy of this song and we always get a great response to it when we play live... it's a great closer to a set. This was another one that I struggled with the lyrics on and one day I'm eating my lunch in a parking lot outside of Quizno's (just had to get out of the office that day...) and the basic premise came to me. I wanted the song to be about giving up on the notion of pleasing everbody else around you and just being who you are and living the best you know how... i guess it's loosely based on the quote, "You can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time."... And I tend to fall into that trap sometimes because deep down I want everyone to like me... I know, I know.... very Stuart Smalley... --Brian Weber

Lyrics
Insane Logic
(Josh Campbell-Brian Weber 5/03)
Everyday it?s always the same
Playing by the rules of the game
I just try to please ?em thinking that I can appease ?em
If I act like what they want me to be
It?s been like this since the day I was born
The mechanics getting weary and worn
My efforts are redoubled to keep me out of trouble
But the countdown has begun I can see
Welcome to my world of the logical and sane
I?m tired of giving up my life from 8 to 5
I don?t need another cause
I don?t need another plan
I just need your love to fill me up so I can breathe again
The truth is that I know the truth
But my soul remains deaf, dumb and mute
You say I?m mistaken but you can?t stop the aching
For the freedom that I?m craving inside
I feel like I am going to crack
Soon there will be no turning back
This inner insurrection is pulling each direction
As the threads come apart at the seams
