Story Behind The Song
When I returned to Los Angeles from touring across the US, my girl friend decided to move on. From Los Angeles, I arranged to drive to Florida to meet some friends and record. With the date set, I drove- stopping at rest stops along the way, and wrote 12 songs chronicling the stages of recovery from a lost romance. We recorded them the week I arrived. "Life Is Better Here" was the first song I wrote for this collection.
Song Description
The singer sarcastically compares how his life is better since his girl has left him.

Lyrics
VERSE
I thought she was my girl
Until the day I die
But she knocked me out and said,
Now it's time to say good-bye
So I packed my things and
I headed south
To live in Rosaritos
And pour Tequila down my mouth
CHORUS
Life is better here
Than I use to know
No one ever says good-bye
Cause they have no place to go
Life is better here
Down in Mexico
I know I should go home soon
But I don't go
VERSE
I hear she's doing great
Back in old LA
Throwing parties in the Hollywood Hills
Where the air is gray
Well, the sky is blue here
And I am too
But all my problems fade away
When I'm full of booze
CHORUS
BRIDGE
I don't know how long I'll stay
In this little town
But at a buck a bottle
I can really throw them down
CHORUS
