Story Behind The Song
I think I saw some romantic TV ad that sparked the whole beach scenario. The imagery is universal and really seems to connect with everyone who's heard it. I don't know where the hook came from, but I remember thinking "boy, that's good" after I wrote it down.

Lyrics
Steady As She Goes By Eric Robert Kiefer
You know she always loved the water
And walking barefoot in the sand
And on a moonlit night together
I asked her for her hand
And as the waves crashed all around us
She fell into my arms
The wind was warm against our backs
And we were safe from harm
But, now time has come between us
And I suppose we both have changed
But, for everything that's different
I love her just the same
And she still takes her walks
But she prefers to go alone
It seems as if she's crossed a bridge
To a place I'll never go
Now I'm on shaky ground and where I'll turn
Heaven only knows
But, she's already picked her course
And she's steady as she goes
On those romantic nights 'neath the harbor lights
When we never spoke a word
The whole time she was shouting
And I guess I never heard
Now I'm on shaky ground and where I'll turn
Heaven only knows
But, she's already picked her course
And she's steady as she goes
She's already picked her course...
And she's steady as she goes
